What is it?
The String has Strung event is a pop up event where you can bring a guitar to be restrung while you wait. Sam Stewart of Bridge City Guitar will be restringing, answering questions, and evaluating instruments for repair at Strum on Saturday 5/4 from 1PM to 4PM. Admission to the event gets you a set of basic strings (uncoated Ernie Ball or D’addario), one beer or N/A beverage of your choice, and restring service while you wait.
Includes one set of basic strings (uncoated Ernie Ball or D’addario). We want to make sure everyone gets exactly what they need, so if you have a preferred set you’d like to make sure we use, you are welcome to bring a set and $5 will be deducted from the cost of admission, just show the set at the door!
What instruments can I bring?
We welcome all guitars, but some are harder to do while you wait. Guitars like Les Pauls, Telecasters, acoustics or anything without a tremolo/vibrato unit are the fastest and easiest to do quickly. Strats and guitars with Bigsbys are quick too. Basses can also be taken care of quickly. Locking tremolo guitars (Floyd Rose, etc.) are welcome but will not be done while you wait as they take longer. We want to make sure we can get to as many folks as possible! Please note that if you are changing string gauges or tunings, that will require additional setup work that will be performed outside of the restring event. If you are not sure what gauge strings are on your guitar, we can measure and match them for you! If you have questions about a specific instrument, please let us know in advance.
How many can I bring?
1 guitar per customer will be eligible for while you wait service, however if you have more you would like restrung or serviced, contact Strum or Bridge City Guitar ahead of time and we’ll arrange for bulk work to be done. Again, we want to make sure there’s room for everyone!
Can I watch?
You are welcome to watch during the process and I will be happy to show you my restring method. Questions are welcomed and encouraged!
Can you fix other stuff on my guitar?
Of course! But that will likely have to be a longer conversation. I am happy to evaluate your guitar for additional repairs as time allows!
BASSES
Bassists, please bring your bass! Please note that since bass strings are significantly more expensive than guitar strings, they will be an additional charge at admission. You are, of course welcome to bring your own desired set if you would like.
